Book Hop (5)

A Very Big Welcome

Welcome to any visitors who got here through the weekly Book Hop (a Book Party) organised by Jennifer (a BIG thank you!) @ Crazy for Books(http://www.crazy-for-books.com/) so that book bloggers can share their blog with other book lovers and also find a new blog to 'follow.' To get involved all you have to do is post your blog link at the bottom of the 'linky list' on Crazy For Books and post about 'Your favorite new-to you author this year.'

My answer: My favourite author that I have discovered this year is Georgette Heyer, who writes Regency Romance novels which are very witty with lots of diverse heroes and heroines.    I have only read several so far but there are around 50 of them so many are on my TBR list.

I hope that you enjoy taking a look round my blog and find a post that you enjoy reading. I'd love to hear from you, so please feel free to drop me a comment! Also, I am happy for you to leave a link to your blog in  a comment so I can easily visit it.

Last week, I reached 50 followers (YAY!) so thank you to everyone! I have had a great time looking at everyone else's blogs and look forward to reading more of your posts on my feed.

Happy hopping!

Hello, hopping over from the Blog Hop. It's the first time I've seen your blog and it's very nice.

I've read one book by Georgette Heyer, Devil's Cub, I think it was. It was very funny.

    Happy reading! http://leeswammes.wordpress.com

  2. Hi, I'm here on the Hop!

I absolutely love Heyer - I've been reading her books since my mum gave me her old copy of Beauvallet to read! I have all her romances and historical fiction books, but none of her detective novels (I'm not big on detective novels!). I'd be hard-pressed to name favourites, and I'm not sure which one you read, but they'd include Simon the Coldheart, Beauvallet, April Lady, The Masqueraders, A Convenient Marriage and lots more! It's probably easier to name the ones I didn't like: Sprig Muslin and Cousin Kate!

Lots of them aren't set in the Regency period, either, but no matter where she set them, she researched so well she became an authority for me! I was always fascinated, too, by her skill at writing dialogue. And her sense of humour ...!

Sorry. Got carried away. Yeah I'm a fan :D

Thanks for stopping over Leeswammes and Sharon!

I discovered Heyer when I was trying to find some clean historical fiction appropriate for a 13 year old and I'm so glad that I did. So far I've read Regency Buck, The Grand Sophy, Arabella and Cotillion. Out of those I love Arabella the most, especially as it was the first I read.

Yes, her books must have taken a lot of research, I love all the little details. The dialouge is fantastic too, so lifelike and yes, very humorous sometimes!

It's nice to know some of your favourites, it's hard to choose which Heyer book to read next!

I'll be checking out your blog :)
