A Very Big Welcome
Welcome to any visitors who got here through the weekly Book Hop (a Book Party) organised by Jennifer @ Crazy for Books or Follow A Book Blog Friday hosted by Parajunkee's View so that book bloggers can share their blog with other book lovers and also find new blogs to 'follow.' To get involved all you have to do is post your blog link at the bottom of the 'linky list' on Crazy For Books and/or Parajunkee's View, answer the weekly question (for the hop) on your blog and get hopping around!

This weeks Book Hop question/topic is: "How do you spread the word about your blog?

(e.g. Social Networking sites, Book Blog Directories, comments on other blogs...)"

My answer:  When I first started blogging I had no idea how to network but when I emailed one of the only book bloggers I knew to ask if they could review a book, she asked me if I had reviewed it. I hadn't but I gave her the link to my blog and she kindly commented on all my first posts. It was then that I discovered the hop and I was amazed at the massive book blog community and decided to participate. At the end of the first week I was following lots of fantastic blogs that I had visited and had gained followers myself. However I didn't follow them just to say 'hey follow me back' but because I am interested in their content. So when I comment on their posts, it isn't just to get noticed as that would be rude but because I have enjoyed their post.
I'm also take part in the discussions in the book blogging community Ning which has helped me to develop my blog too. More recently I have joined Twitter and I am really enjoying it,  it really is worth it!
My giveaway is really a thank you to all the people who helped me reach 150 followers but I also wanted people who have only just discovered my blog to have a chance of winning too. To avoid people following my blog just for free stuff I chose YA historical fiction books as choices for the winner which is what I mainly review so they would be interested in the content if they want to read a book. In the end I also decided to give old followers 3 entries and new followers 1.
Although I write my blog because I love doing it and although having lots of followers is lovely, it is not the most important thing.

I hope that you enjoy taking a look round my blog and. I'd love to hear from you, so please feel free to drop me a comment.
Don't forget to leave a link to your blog in a comment so I can check it out :D

I am holding an 150+ followers international giveaway currently, where the winner gets to choose from 10 YA historical fiction books. To find out more visit the link at the top of the sidebar!

Thank you for stopping by and enjoy your weekend!

  1. Hi, I found you through the blog hop.

It's amazing how many book blogs are around. I had no clue till a couple of weeks ago. It's terribly bad for my purse though because I keep buying books that are on blogs and now my To be read pile is HUGE hehe

  2. Happy HOP! I think doing the weekly memes for me have been the best way to get to know other bloggers and see what they've been up to on their sites. I get to come by , say hello, and read what they have there. It's a great way for people to get to know me and in return come visit. Hope you enjoy your weekend!

  6. You know, I follow tons of blogs, and not because I am angling to have them follow me back, but because I really want to be exposed to that many different opinions, and that much different knowledge on different types of books. For example, I *rarely* read romance... and review it even less... but I still follow romance book blogs, because I want to keep up on the trends and patterns of different genres of writing. Now, I never expect the Romance Book Blogs to follow me back, I just am not into what they're into. If they do... it's awesome, and I hope they can get something from my blog, but if not, I'm not going to cry about it XD

Sorry... your answer sparked a response because your commenting on finding so many fantastic blogs made me think about all the fantastic ones I follow and why I follow them!!! I follow yours too, of course :)

Check out my Blog Hop, Follow Friday and Giveaway!

  9. Just hoppin' on by! <3

I'm a new book blogger, so I have no idea what I'm doing. I try to tweet, but I feel like my attempts are so transparent that people KNOW I'm trying to network.

So mostly I just visit other blogs and comment on their reviews or content, and I end up making friends that way. :D

    My hop :3

  10. When I first started, I was amazed at the amount of book bloggers out there. I was thinking, how am I going to get noticed. I'm a small fish in a very big pond. I'm still learning how to get more reader interaction. I know giveaways are a start, but I don't always have the time to devot to it. And I don't want someone to follow my blog purely for free stuff. Maybe in time, I will do giveaways.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.
