Waiting on Wednesday: Crossed by Allie Condie

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme held at Breaking The Spine where bloggers feature books they are eagerly anticipating!

My pick this week is:

Crossed by Allie Condie

Goodreads description

In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.

Cassia's quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander - who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia's heart - change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.

Why I want to read it:

I read and enjoyed the first book in this dystpian series Matched last year so I'm looking forward to finding out what happens next in the story even if it isn't my favourite dystopian book. I'm hoping that Cassia and Kai's relationship will develop and they'll be less 'love-triangling' as she goes in search of him across the border.

I love how they've designed the cover similarly to Matched but with the girl breaking out of the sphere because it represents her character development. Such a clever idea!

Crossed will be released on November 11th this year so still quite a long time to wait!

What are you waiting on this week?

  1. lol! This was very nearly my WoW as well! I really enjoyed Matched and cannot wait for Crossed.

I love the cover design too - very symbolic lol! Wonder what the third one will be? Maybe her standing with shattered glass at her feet? (I wanted to post that for prosperity lol! Im calling that cover design!)

  3. I agree. For me, it makes it annoying and a tad tedious when Cassie was going in between Ky and Xander.

And personally, I don't like Ky at all. I want her to go for Xander but that's my personal choice.

I too am looking forward to this. When does it come out? I'll have a look on Waterstones.
